Great site for serious golf course design junkies. A few name architects like Tom Doak weigh in from time to time. Discussions can be a bit contentious.
-
All kinds of informed reviews of golf courses around the world, equipment and observations about the game of golf. Full disclosure: My son Tim is on the editorial staff of Golf Advisor. He played collegiate golf at Washington & Lee University and is a scratch golfer. (I take five strokes a side from him,)

Dedicated to improving your game with great deals, news, reviews and "no BS commentary," according to the authors. Seems so to me.
-
If you can get past the occasionally annoying pop-up ads, consider it a comprehensive approach to golfing gear.

The most trustworthy overall golf course rankings, in our opinion, and the only reliable ratings for golf community layouts. Former architecture editor Bradley Klein set the standard for assessing golf courses' playability.

Like its South Carolina equivalent, the ratings for the golf rich state of North Carolina are the result of voting by regular Joe golfers. -
Some sections of the site offer ideas about golf travel and reviews -- by non-professionals -- of golf courses. If you can get past the promotions for the game, some decent information.
-
If you are traveling to South Carolina to play golf for a week, or moving to a home in a community to play golf for the rest of your life, trust rankings where the raters have no vested interest whatsoever. Rankings include best private courses, best public courses and best overall. Your editor is a member of the panel and happy to vouch for his fellow panelists' objectivity.
